On an old fishing starship called the "Bebop," a cool as Zen man of mystery, a macho former hard-boiled cop, a brash and fickle woman with a large debt, a whimsical whiz kid hacker and an unsuspecting Welsh Corgi band together to hunt bounty heads for a meager living. Unfortunately, they are some of the unluckiest people in the star system. These are the stories of the adventurous (and misadventurous) lives of four struggling people and a dog. For some Cowboy Bebop is the ULTIMATE anime that there possibly can be. And I dare say I'm amongst those fans. Very few animes can measure up to the devoted fan base this show has garnered over the years, and the few other franchises like Fullmetal Alchemist and Death Note can claim to have half the following Cowboy Bebop has attained since its debut in 1998. The series is a neo-noir space-western that takes the best elements of things like Batman: The Animated Series' strong emphasis on shadows and Lupin III's wittiness and flirtatious nature covering up a complicated, smart and relatable protagonist in the form of anime heart-throb Spike Spiegel.<br/><br/>Cowboy Bebop is a fun, violent, funny and artistically expressive television series that shows the unique and gorgeous flavour Japan gives the world in television and film. I think there's nothing to hate about this show: it's an anime that's inspired by two of the best genres in film: the Western and Film Noir. If you haven't seen any of the series yet, go ahead and dive right in for some very appealing, open-ended storytelling that doesn't need any pre-ordained cultural requirements. It's like Star Wars: anyone can appreciate regardless of their sovereignty or tongue.<br/><br/>Go ahead and give this badass masterpiece of television a watch and see how it stacks up to the wider pantheon of television culture. I have seen many episodes of this overlong anime looking for something at all somewhat interesting. I have heard many great things about this anime, but I just can't see what's so great about it. I love the concept, it has potential. but frank;y it's just not a good anime at all. I know many people like it, and I can barely understand why. People complain about classics like Mononoke Hime being too slow, well that's what I think about Cowboy BeBop. I guess that's just me though… The show doesn't really do anything spectacular or new with anime, it's just constant repeats of the same style. The show isn't really intriguing or interesting, the only true interest about this anime is the good animation and the concept. They have something good to work with, they just don t have a good anime to make it worth anything. I would stay away from this one and look for something else.
